Institute of Flight Vehicle Design and Propulsion Technology

INTRODUCTION

There are two secondary disciplines, i.e. Flight Vehicle Design and Aerospace Propulsion Theory and Engineering. The main research areas are: (1) Research, development and engineering application of high-performance digital analysis systems for flight vehicle design. As well as the research in rarefied gas dynamics, and development of small high-speed target systems. (2) Design, development and experimental verification of high-temperature hot end components, and research in basic science and application technologies for turbomachinery and propulsion systems.

Hypersonic flight vehicle(near space vehicle)

The research work mainly focuses on the aerodynamics, aircraft design, micro-flow control technology and software engineering of hypersonic vehicle technology.

Unmanned aerial vehicle

Research work includes flow control drag reduction, flapping wing flight vehicle/biomechanics, fluid-solid coupling, wind tunnel experiment, etc.The institute has the largest low turbulence wind tunnel in general universities.

Aircraft engines and gas turbines

The research work includes study of fuel atomization, combustor and turbine coupling, fan/turbine/turbulence model, etc.
